HF France 2023

High-level Details

1. We are planning a trip to France from May 22 to June 1 of 2023. Sign up by October 7!
2. This trip will be conducted by Squisito Tours LLC, owned by Jacob Dueck.
3. We’ll take up to 22 students.
4. Priority given to older students.
5. Mr. Dueck, Ms. Diggins and Mr. Chady AlAhmar will be the chaperones.
6. The school disciplinary policy will be enforced strictly on the trip. Any student who chooses to use alcohol, drugs or violate any of the other behavioral standards in the HFCHS parent/student handbook will be sent home at their parents’ expense. Squisito Tours LLC will also require all parents of travelers to sign a contract that includes these behavioral standards.
7. The cost of the trip includes airfare, transportation, travel insurance, site entrance fees and most meals.
8. We will stay in dormitory-style lodging that is within walking distance of many sites.

10. The approximate cost is $3650, paid in 4 increments. We’ll communicate the actual cost once we can start booking things.

If you are considering the trip:

• Parents should email Mr. Dueck at dueckj@hfchs.org.
• Include your student traveler’s full name and grade in the 2022-2023 school year.
• Pay a $200 deposit to hold your spot. Make checks payable to Squisito Tours LLC. This is non-refundable.

Preparing for the trip

Essential items that are unlikely to change:

1. Apply for a passport (and visas if you are not a US citizen). If you already have one make sure it doesn’t expire any time in 2023. Sometimes they’ll scrutinize a soon-to-be expired passport.
2. There are no COVID entry requirements for France. At this point, we will not need to get tested or show any vaccination documents. Check current travel protocol here and here.
3. See the payment schedule on this blank statement: Payment statement HF France 2023. Pay the remaining balance by February 15, 2023 by Zelle or checks made to Squisito Tours LLC.

Other details:

1. Room assignments will be determined in the coming months but
   • everyone will share a room with students of the same sex;
   • we’ll do our best to match everyone with those they want to room with;
   • anyone who wants special accommodations will have to pay for the difference.
2. During the trip, kids must not consume alcohol, drugs or participate in other risky behavior.—We’ll send you home at your family’s expense! Then there are the HF consequences.
3. There will be some academic components to this trip since it is during May Term. Students will get high school credit for this. Some components of this will be:
   • learn some French throughout the months before we go,
   • keep a journal, and
   • do some research on sites before we see them.

These things will be revised but could give you an idea of other preparations:

2. You’ll need to fill out and submit liability, and other, forms in the coming months. It will look something like this.
